When is the last time you were watching a video on YouTube and wanted to download the video. Yes, I know there are stream rippers out there that make the job a piece of cake for the die hard geeks. (I am one of them) For the average Joe or Sue out there it is now a walk-in-the-park to grab a video from YouTube and convert it to a variety of different formats.
Youconvertit is our unique website that can save you time and frustration when you need a file in a certain format. They have a website that will take any file you can upload and convert it to several formats. While I did not try and convert a video, I did upload a spreadsheet (xls) and convert it to a pdf. The site only took about 5 minutes and I was sent an email that contained a download link embedded in it. Sure enough, once I clicked on the link there was my data from the spreadsheet only now it was in the pdf format I desired.
Youconvertit was started in 2005 and they claim to be the world’s first and most complete conversion, file storage, units conversion website allowing Internet users to convert audio video images and documents into an array of formats also sending or delivering file(s).
“In 2005, in an attempt to simplify file conversion, YouConvertIt’s creators, came up with the idea after becoming frustrated in trying to convert a simple image file. After jumping through numerous hoops, like downloading and installing software, they said no more. YouConvertIt.com has taken the hoops away and made it simple and easy.”
I have seen other online file converting websites come and go. What makes this website unique is its streamlined and straightforward approach that has been laid out in an eye pleasing format. This unique website is very clean and has a very modern look and feel. Youconvertit is still in it beta testing however from what I saw it is pretty stable. When you arrive on the site you will have the choice to convert files, convert online video, send files, and convert units. Convert units you say … yes, I said the same thing - what is that. On closer inspection this section is nothing more than converting feet to meters, pints to liters, miles to kilometers … you get the picture. The rest of the site is very straight forward.
In order to convert a file all you will need to do is enter your email address, browse for the file you wish to convert, select the type file you want it to be - in the not to distant future and click convert it. That is all there is to it.
Youconvertit is free to use and the only two catches I saw on the site were the fact that they advertise while you wait and get your email address. I do feel more comfortable about them having my email address after reading there Privacy Disclosure.
We collect the email addresses of YouConvertIt recipients and senders for the purpose of logging and measuring usage. YouConvertIt does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with non-affiliated companies.
Now I did mention that they advertise on their site only to let you know how they were providing this service for free. As you well know, I advertise on my site to increase the revenue stream a little.
Summary
I am very impressed with what I saw from a Beta version and they may be the first to offer such a service with such ease. I think youconvertit has a great idea and has put it to use in a very easy to use format. It is not everyday that I am needing to convert a file to a format that I can’t on my PC however I will bookmark this unique website and use the free service the next time it is called for.
