Surprise.comToday’s Internet treasure is a unique website that will not only work well with Father’s day but should work for any holiday. The site is Surprise.com and they have several gift ideas for the hard to buy for father. At Surprise.com the gifts are sorted into categories such as; meat lover, macho fan, football lover, hates to cook, hiker, sports fan … and the list goes on and on.

While reviewing the site for this post I caught myself thinking about what I could but for my father. Dad enjoys gardening, camping, woodworking, and fishing. Surprise.com gives you such a good method so search for an unordinary gift. I clicked on the many categories available to you and found a plethora of items I could get him.

Now, here is the deal with such a unique website like Surprise.com. After clicking on a few items and being directed to a retailer that was not Surprise.com I started digging around for answers. They are not selling any of the items listed, all they do it catalog/catagorize it so you can easily find it. They link you to the retailer that has the item for sale. After a few minutes of looking for the perfect gift, I decided to look at a travel clock. This particular clock is one that has a weather forecasting feature. When I click on the link Surprise.com reroutes me to the retailer selling the item. In this case I was routed to telescope.com.

Here is what Surprise.com says about themselves on their website.

What’s their secret?

“It all comes down to three things,” says Darrell Benatar, founder of Surprise.com, a free service that scours the Web for unusual gift ideas.

Pay Attention — What do you know about the person you’re giving the gift to? Have they provided clues for what they want? For example, you might have an aunt who is always turning up the thermostat and changing into a warmer sweater. Now you’ve got something to focus on. You’re halfway done. Suddenly, it’s clear a pair of battery-heated socks is a perfect fit.

Seek out the Unusual– Once you’ve found something to focus on, seek out a fitting gift that’s also unusual. You can buy almost anything on the Web including lots of things you didn’t even know existed. For example, for a racecar fan – a session driving a real race car around the track, or for music lovers, CDs that look like vinyl records.

Shop All Year Long — Great gift givers are on the lookout for gifts all year long. They’re always perusing catalogs and browsing the web, stumbling across unusual items and thinking, “that would be perfect for so-and-so.”

A service like Surprise.com scours the web daily, looking for new and unusual gifts and providing links to online merchants who sell the products or services. The gift ideas are organized into creative categories like “Always Cold”, “Talks Politics”, and “Works Too Much”. Even if you’re not a serial shopper, you can be on the look out for great gifts all year round by subscribing to a daily or weekly email like Surprise.com’s Cool Gift of the Day.

Surprise.com is a unique website that has hundreds if not thousands of items listed in a easy to find format. Their website is well laid out with just enough graphics to make it pleasant. I will give Surprise.com a try in the near future.
